Job summary

MCM Midland Credit Management, Inc. is seeking a Staff Counsel I to manage and resolve the company’s collection litigation matters while supporting compliance with applicable laws and regulations governing debt collection and related activities.

The role requires strong advocacy skills in hearings and trials, negotiation with opposing counsel, and preparation for court proceedings, with a JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

Qualifications

• JD degree from an accredited law school
• Master's or advanced degree preferred
• No legal work experience required (entry level)
• Juris Doctorate certification required

Responsibilities

• Create, review, direct and resolve collection litigation matters cost-effectively and in a compliant manner.
• Ensure adherence to relevant company policies, state, federal and local regulations.
• Maintain and enhance company reputation with courts, venders, outside counsel, and consumers.
• Limit company exposure through effective advocacy on behalf of the Company in hearings, trials, and mediations.
• Negotiate with opposing counsel, conduct discovery, and respond to discovery.
• Prepare and attend hearings and trials.
