Job summary

The Great Falls Pre-Release Center is a non-profit Community Corrections worksite focused on transition programs for adult offenders. As Staff Cook, you will prepare meals for scheduled services and for residents who are employed or in education away from the center.

You will ensure nutritious, safe meals that meet contract requirements, supervise up to 5 inmate/resident workers, and maintain health and cleanliness standards in a shared kitchen; a Serve Safe certification is preferred and prior

Qualifications

• Two years continual experience in institutional food service or one year's experience and certificate from accredited culinary institute.
• Techniques of food preparation and nutrition as well as safety and health requirements involving City and State codes on food handling.
• Ability to apply and enforce policies, follow instructions and problem solve.
• Effective verbal and written communication, good organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals so the serving can be accomplished at scheduled times.
• Responsible for daily cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance of food preparation areas and storage areas.
• Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment in a safe condition and train inmate/resident workers in usage and cleaning.
• Follow recipes and proper storage methods to prevent spoilage and waste.
• Maintain health and safety standards including cleanliness and attire.
• Provide culinary training and maintain center certification training material.
• Complete Serve Safe and center culinary training materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
