Job summary

BECU is hiring a Staff Operations Engineer – Cloud Networking to own hybrid cloud networking, including Azure hub/spoke, Virtual WAN, DNS, and ExpressRoute. You will lead automation via Terraform and scripting, mentor engineers, and drive secure, scalable deployments across on-prem and cloud environments.

You will collaborate with architects and product teams to align solutions with business goals, participate in on-call rotations, and help advance the organization’s cloud maturity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience in Azure and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven experience designing, configuring and maintaining production systems in a team.
• Advanced experience with two or more disciplines including cloud networking and automation.
• Strong communication of technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10%).

Responsibilities

• Design and support hybrid cloud infrastructure, including Azure networking like hub/spoke, Virtual WAN, VPN, and ExpressRoute.
• Provide Azure networking expertise and guidance to teams on DNS, routing, and hybrid connectivity.
• Define architecture standards that scale with business needs.
• Promote secure engineering practices and governance aligned with compliance requirements.
• Improve observability, telemetry, and platform reliability.
• Lead Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Terraform and automation via scripting.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Troubleshoot complex issues using telemetry and trend analysis.
• Create and maintain network topology documentation and process diagrams.
• Mentor engineers and lead solution development; drive engineering excellence.
