Job summary

Supermicro is seeking a Staff Engineer to technically lead the automation engine behind SCAC, guiding design and delivery from firmware to AI workloads across data centers and edge environments.

You will shape secure, scalable cloud architectures, socialize high-level designs, and drive production readiness with cross-functional teams. This is a high-impact role shaping the backbone of AI infrastructure at global scale.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in technical lead roles owning HLD/LLD with cross-team input.
• Strong Python coding, analysis, debugging and problem solving.
• Hands-on Linux development, Docker and containers; OpenShift or vanilla Kubernetes experience.
• Experience with Git-based development and SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL).
• Security fundamentals, zero-trust, image signing, SBOM basics in vulnerability management.
• Experience architecting end-to-end private cloud-based solutions.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and design for cloud-based orchestration and provisioning.
• Evaluate new technologies and develop rapid proof-of-concepts to production.
• Own end-to-end delivery for SCAC discovery, architecture, and production readiness.
• Create architectural artifacts: HLD/LLD, diagrams, data flows, ADRs.
• Design integration patterns across Supermicro stack, Kubernetes, OpenShift, and CI/CD.
• Identify design gaps and risks with mitigation options and TCO impact.
• Establish standards via reference architectures and IaC modules.
• Champion security-by-design with zero-trust, secrets management, and compliance guardrails.
• Define orchestration workflows for cluster bring-up, upgrades, and teardown.
• Formalize API contracts, telemetry, logging, and external registries with SCAC.
• Lead performance, scalability modeling, and validation (concurrency, queue backoff).
• Guide delivery from design to GA, with risk registers and exit gates.
