Qualifications

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.

Job Description:

The Richmond, Va office of Schnabel Engineering seeks to expand its civil and environmental engineering services, focusing on site planning and design of solid waste, industrial, and power facilities. Ideal candidates will be organized, well-rounded problem solvers with excellent communication skills and a keen interest in technical challenges.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing civil/environmental engineering designs and deliverables such as site plans, erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, and investigation reports.
  • Participate in civil and environmental field investigations and permitting processes.
  • Assist in preparing civil and environmental engineering calculations.
  • Create plans and figures using AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS.
  • Develop civil/environmental engineering recommendations, prepare plans and specifications, and write technical reports.
  • Develop regulatory permitting documents supporting civil/environmental projects.
  • Collaborate within civil and environmental teams and across other Schnabel units to effectively manage workload.
  • Perform field work as needed, including drilling, instrumentation, monitoring, and site inspections.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0-4 years of professional consulting civil/environmental engineering experience.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS.
  • Proficiency with Office 365 and other productivity software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and safety-minded approach.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Strong work ethic and desire for continual self-improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Interest and experience in civil design and environmental permitting, including Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 60 pounds and navigate construction sites safely.
  • Willingness to perform field work and travel for projects.
  • Ability to pass background, drug screenings, and other pre-employment checks.

The salary range is $57,200 to $86,000 annually, with variations based on location and other factors. Schnabel is committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation.
