Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer with environmental experience to join our Environmental Services Global Practice in the Kansas City, MO, Manhattan, KS, Omaha, NE, and Oklahoma City, OK regions.

You will lead and support a wide range of civil and environmental design projects, mentor junior staff, and help implement our department strategy and culture across multiple markets.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in Civil, Environmental, or Biological Engineering.
• 3+ years of related professional environmental engineering experience (6 years preferred).
• Experience in consulting is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, and related software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CivilStorm.
• PE license preferred; construction oversight experience is highly preferred.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 10%.
• Strong civil engineering knowledge and ability to self-manage and multi-task.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support engineering teams to deliver high-quality civil and environmental designs.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary projects with varying technical complexity.
• Prepare design documentation, criteria, letters, reports, drawings, and cost estimates.
• Review work products and provide technical leadership and QA/QC.
• Manage project scope, budget, schedule, safety, and client expectations.
• Establish client relations and participate in marketing and meetings.
