Job Description and Duties:
The California Energy Commission (CEC) is seeking an experienced Staff Biologist (Energy Commission Specialist II) to join the Siting, Transmission, and Environmental Protection Division in the Siting and Environmental Branch.
In this role, you will be a key contributor to the evaluation and protection of biological and natural resources for energy facility projects in California. You will perform highly complex and sensitive technical analyses of energy facilities, policies, and planning studies, with a focus on conservation and environmental protection.
As an expert in biological resources, you will play an instrumental role in evaluating the environmental impacts of proposed energy projects, ensuring compliance with the Warren-Alquist Act and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). You will work independently to develop innovative solutions to challenging and controversial issues, often collaborating with a team of technical specialists. You may also take on leadership responsibilities, guiding teams through the most complex projects.
