We are seeking an experienced Staff Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team focused on automation, scalability, and reliability. In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain critical backend systems and APIs that support the company’s financial products. You will work in a collaborative environment that emphasizes test-driven development, continuous integration, and operational excellence. Accountabilities:

  • Design, develop, and enhance backend components, services, and APIs to support product functionality.
  • Maintain and improve the stability, reliability, and performance of production systems with minimal operational overhead.
  • Triage and resolve operational issues, participate in on-call rotations, and proactively identify system improvements.
  • Implement automated testing, CI/CD processes, and monitoring to reduce manual toil and increase operational confidence.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of high-quality software development.
  • Participate in recruiting and outreach initiatives, including interviews and career events.

Requirements:

  • 6+ years of professional experience developing backend systems, services, or APIs using Java or a similar language.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and functional programming paradigms.
  • Experience with SQL and relational databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MS SQL Server.
  • Passion for agile development, test-driven development, and automated testing.
  • Experience working with scalable backend platforms that directly impact business outcomes.
  • Bonus: Experience with Spark pipelines, ORM frameworks (Hibernate), and dependency injection frameworks (Guice, Spring, Pico, Dagger).
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field.
