Job summary

Rippling is seeking a Staff Engineer for Payroll Payments to shape the unified processing core for payroll money movement. You will drive architecture for payment instruction generation, employer funding, payout initiation, observability, audits, and customer-facing payment-state experiences, impacting global-scale operations.

You will lead the end-to-end delivery of high-impact features, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, Risk, Accounting, Tax, Payroll, Ops, and Support to deliver

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with technical leadership.
  • Expertise in building large-scale, distributed backend systems.
  • Strong Python and Django experience.
  • Experience delivering projects end-to-end independently.
  • Deep knowledge of system architecture and data modeling.
  • A customer-focused mindset and ability to advocate for users.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across diverse teams.
  • Experience with MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture for the payroll payments engine across multiple countries.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of high-impact features from design to production.
  • Drive the technical roadmap for payroll processing, performance and reliability.
  • Turn ambiguous problems into concrete plans and actionable work.
  • Ensure data integrity across interdependent services.
  • Mentor engineers and drive best practices for code quality and observability.
  • Collaborate with Product, Risk, Accounting, Tax, Payroll, Ops and Support.
