Job summary

I did my part and supported the Regular Toilet is looking for a Staff Backend Engineer to build scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure for mission-critical payment systems. This is a contract-to-hire role providing the opportunity to convert to full-time after 3-6 months.

You will design backend services for payment acquisition, collaborate with partners, and lead architectural reviews. The position demands at least 8 years of backend engineering experience.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend engineering experience with modern languages.
• 2+ years in a Staff+ role at a high-scale tech or fintech company.
• Deep knowledge of payments infrastructure.
• Strong background in event-driven systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services for payment acquisition and settlement.
• Build distributed systems that meet 5 9s reliability.
• Collaborate with partners to integrate payment systems.
• Lead backend architectural reviews.
• Set engineering standards and mentor backend engineers.

Backend engineering experience
