Job summary

Additive is seeking an experienced backend engineer in San Francisco to own and evolve core ML-enabled systems. You will design, build, and scale services that handle ML inference, monitoring, and tax-related logic, while interfacing with external APIs and data stores.

You will collaborate with the team on CI/CD and work closely with accountants to understand needs and deliver value with autonomy in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend systems ownership experience.
• Experience with ML concepts and integrating ML inference/monitoring into apps.
• Proficiency with Python and cloud providers (GCP/AWS).
• Experience with containers and data stores (Docker, Kubernetes, Postgres, Redis, S3/GCS).
• Willingness to work in person 5 days/week in downtown San Francisco; relocation costs covered.

Responsibilities

• Build core systems that deploy ML capabilities in training and production, and create metrics for rapid iteration.
• Drive tech and architectural choices for core services enabling rapid iteration of user experiences.
• Design/build integration of ML inference, monitoring, LLM interactions, apps, and tax-related logic.
• Build database layers supporting business logic and data integration with external APIs.
• Collaborate on CI/CD systems to move faster.
• Engage with accountants to understand needs and build loved products.
• Operate with autonomy and judgment to deliver value under constraints.
