Job summary

Walmart Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA to lead backend engineering for a multi-tenant, enterprise platform powering Last Mile delivery. You will shape architecture, drive reusable patterns, and enable teams across markets with scalable, reliable services.

You will collaborate with cloud, analytics, and platform teams, mentor engineers, and own critical design decisions while advancing DevOps practices and modern backend technologies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in design and development of scalable distributed applications for multi-tenant SaaS.
• Experience building a Code-Deploy-Run CI/CD pipeline with modern tools.
• Experience with Kafka and messaging methodologies.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.
• Proficiency in Java/J2EE, Microservices, and cloud-native architecture.
• Hands-on in Java SpringBoot, Spring Kafka, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
• Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set priorities, and deliver products.
• Collaborate with Distinguished & Principal Architects and cross-functional teams to meet QCD guidelines.
• Participate in hiring and building high-performing agile teams.
• Develop high-level and low-level designs and drive design decisions.
• Promote quality, best practices, and non-functional standards across teams.
