Job summary

Walmart Global Tech in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead design, development, and deployment of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks.

You will provide technical leadership, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into actionable solutions, with a focus on reliability, cost efficiency, and high-quality deliverables that support Walmart’s operational excellence and customer

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering or related field with 4 years’ software engineering experience OR 6 years’ experience in software engineering.
• Preferred qualifications include a Master’s degree in CS/CE or related area and 2 years of experience; knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA and accessibility practices is valued.
• Experience leading full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD, and observability.

Responsibilities

• Design and build highly scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Architect and implement real-time event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
• Develop and optimize large-scale batch and streaming data pipelines with Apache Spark.
• Lead design reviews and define engineering best practices for distributed systems.
