Robinhood is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer for the Prediction Markets team to own the technical roadmap and scale backend systems that power real-time event contracts. Qualifications

• 10+ years of backend engineering experience at IC6 / Staff Engineer scope or equivalent.
• Experience leading large-scale, distributed systems for high availability, performance and reliability.
• Interest in prediction markets, sports betting, fantasy sports, trading platforms, or financial exchange systems.
• Strong technical leadership and roadmapping skills with cross-functional influence.
• Excellent communication and collaboration with product, leadership and engineering.
• Experience building for millions of end users in a B2C context.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical roadmap for core Prediction Markets backend systems.
• Design and build scalable, low-latency backend services for real-time trading and event resolution.
• Lead engineering excellence initiatives across code quality, reliability and observability.
• Partner with product, platform and other engineering teams to align technical direction with business goals.
• Mentor engineers, set technical bar, and foster ownership culture.
• Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and shaping the engineering culture as the team scales.
