Job summary

Rippling is seeking a senior backend engineer to join the Core Experience team, responsible for onboarding flows, self-serve purchasing, and the foundational surfaces that power every Rippling product.

You will design scalable backend systems, own end-to-end delivery from schema design to production reliability, and collaborate with product and design to shape features that scale across multiple product lines.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering, with a strong backend focus.
• Design for scale, fault tolerance, and correctness from the start.
• Ability to own a feature end-to-end, not just implement what's handed to you.
• Proactive, takes ownership, and communicates effectively.
• Experience designing APIs and platform infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design and build backend systems powering onboarding flows, self-serve purchasing, and shared platform primitives.
• Take end-to-end ownership from schema design to performance, reliability, and observability in production.
• Collaborate with product and design to shape how features are built, not just implemented.
• Build for scale and reuse, ensuring correctness and good documentation for other teams.
