Job summary

Affirm is seeking an experienced backend engineer in Seattle, WA to design, develop, and maintain large-scale backend systems. In this role, you will set your team’s technical strategy, collaborate with product management and design teams, and ensure robust operations and availability. A strong background in Python, AWS, and distributed systems is essential, along with excellent communication skills. This position offers a remote-first work model along with competitive pay ranging from $225,000 to $275,000 per year.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience designing and developing backend systems at scale.
• Track record of developing highly available distributed systems.
• Experience in scaling systems for large sales events.
• Experience in tuning autoscaling and multi-threading for compute workloads.
• Ability to write high-quality, understandable code.
