Job summary

Veryable is building a platform transforming manufacturing by enabling flexible work. We are seeking a senior software engineer to design, develop, and own features for our web and mobile apps, mentoring teammates and upholding quality via TDD and automated tests.

You will be based in Downtown Dallas, collaborating with a world-class tech team to push the gig-economy in manufacturing labor. You will work on scalable services, RESTful APIs, and microservices, with opportunities to mentor, review

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js or similar backend frameworks.
• Proficiency in database design and SQL with 6+ years working with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• 3+ years with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, CircleCI) and owning the release process.
• Detail-oriented with a track record of solving complex problems and driving quality.
• Able to work in-office at our Downtown Dallas headquarters.

Responsibilities

• Build robust services and APIs to power web and mobile apps.
• Own end-to-end development lifecycle of roadmap features (design, development, testing, release, post-release support).
• Interact with internal users to gather feedback and plan new features for the platform.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews to maintain high quality standards.
• Drive high-quality code standards and maintainability through TDD and comprehensive automated tests.
• Handle incidents on-call and participate in postmortem analysis and remediation.

What You’ll Do

• Build robust services and APIs to power existing and new features for our web and mobile apps
• Own the entire development lifecycle of select roadmap features, including design, development, testing, release and post-release support
• Interact with internal users to support them, receive feedback, and plan new features for the platform
• Contribute to the growth of the team by mentoring junior engineers and performing code reviews to maintain high quality standards.
• Drive the adoption of high-quality code standards and maintainability through the practice of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing comprehensive automated tests
• Handle incidents on-call and participate in postmortem analysis and remediation efforts

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, or other backend engineering frameworks.
• Proficiency in database design and SQL, with 6+ years of industry experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Experience mentoring junior developers.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• 3+ years of with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Circle CI and owning the release process.
• Detail-oriented with a proven ability to take on complex problems, break them down, and drive optimal solutions.
• A relentless curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement, coupled with a winning attitude.
• Able to work in-office at our headquarters in Downtown Dallas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring on AWS, GCP, or Azure platforms.
• Implementation and management of message brokers like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS for asynchronous processing and inter-service communication.
• Understanding of front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
• Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems, including experience with profiling tools and load testing.
