Job summary

Veryable in Dallas, TX is seeking a seasoned software engineer to build robust services and APIs powering our web and mobile apps. You will own end-to-end features, mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote high-quality standards through TDD and comprehensive tests.

This role is in-office at our Downtown Dallas headquarters. Collaboration with product and platform teams is essential as we tackle distributed systems, CI/CD pipelines, and scalable infrastructure in AWS/GCP

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 6+ years of industry experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• 3+ years with CI/CD tools and owning release processes (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).

What you'll do

• Build robust services and APIs to power existing and new features for our web and mobile apps
• Own the entire development lifecycle of select roadmap features, including design, development, testing, release and post-release support
• Interact with internal users to support them, receive feedback, and plan new features for the platform
• Contribute to the growth of the team by mentoring junior engineers and performing code reviews to maintain high quality standards.
• Drive the adoption of high-quality code standards and maintainability through the practice of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing comprehensive automated tests
• Handle incidents on-call and participate in postmortem analysis and remediation efforts

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Proficiency in database design and SQL, with 6+ years of industry experience working with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
• 3+ years of with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, or Circle CI and owning the release process.
• Detail-oriented with a proven ability to take on complex problems, break them down, and drive optimal solutions.
• A relentless curiosity and a drive for continuous improvement, coupled with a winning attitude.
• Able to work in-office at our headquarters in Downtown Dallas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and monitoring on AWS, GCP, or Azure platforms.
• Implementation and management of message brokers like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or AWS SQS for asynchronous processing and inter-service communication.
• Understanding of front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
• Proven ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in distributed systems, including experience with profiling tools and load testing.
