Signifyd seeks a staff back‑end engineer to set the technical direction for our public‑facing API platform and ingestion services. You’ll own architecture and long‑term health, influencing multiple teams and shaping core systems that retailers rely on to integrate with Signifyd.

You will lead on multi‑year technical strategy, drive architecture decisions, and mentor engineers while championing scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions across cloud environments (GCP/AWS) and evolving AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant experience in software development with modern programming languages, including a functional style.
• Track record of setting technical direction across multiple teams and delivering large, ambiguous initiatives.
• Depth in a platform or product domain that translates into distinctive business value.
• Strong software design and architecture skills, delivering simple foundations and robust interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Define the multi‑year technical vision for the integration and ingestion platform across multiple teams.
• Make architecture‑level technology calls and own tradeoffs behind them.
• Own the health and engineering quality of the platform, including testing strategy and maintainability.
• Design systems under ambiguity, with cross‑team dependencies and clear interfaces.
• Partner with product management, data engineering, and other teams to align roadmaps.
• Raise the technical bar through design and code reviews, focusing on cross‑team interfaces and API quality.
• Identify technical debt areas and drive remediation strategies.
• Serve as a role model and mentor, promoting responsible AI tool adoption.
