Job summary

Moody's is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead design and delivery of large-scale technical solutions across multiple teams. You will mentor engineers, drive strategic roadmaps, and ensure high quality, scalable software architectures that support data platform initiatives in Moody's Insurance group.

Ideal candidates bring 8–15 years of hands-on experience, expert Java/C#/Scala skills, and strong API/microservice delivery with cloud-native Docker/Kubernetes, plus AI tooling to improve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
• 8 to 15 years of hands-on experience delivering high-impact, multi-team technical projects
• Proficiency in Java, C#, Scala
• Experience with relational databases (Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle) and NoSQL data stores
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles
• Proven development of production-quality RESTful APIs and microservices
• Experience with cloud-native application development using Docker and Kubernetes, as well as on-prem solutions
• Focus on scalability, availability, reliability, security, and cost-effective execution
• Demonstrated proficiency in artificial intelligence concepts, with hands-on experience using tools such as Copilot, Claude, and ChatGPT to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency

Responsibilities

• Define and execute multi-year, multi-team technical strategies with measurable business impact
• Deliver large-scale, high-stakes projects that exceed quality and reliability standards
• Drive alignment across engineering teams to prioritize impactful customer outcomes
• Influence technical roadmaps and strategic decisions through sound engineering judgment

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and resilient software architectures
• Proactively identify, manage, and mitigate technical risks
• Partner with product teams to align technical trade-offs with customer value
