Job summary

American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is seeking an Auditor, Lead to plan, conduct, and lead audits for the ABS QE Aerospace Program. This position is remote with heavy travel.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and at least four years in quality/assurance roles, plus Lead Auditor authentication in AS9100/AS9120 or ISO 9001 related aviation experience. Travel up to 50%+ to domestic and international client sites is required.

  • Minimum four years of experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance/Environmental activities including auditing in Petroleum and/or Chemical Manufacturing industries.

Responsibilities

  • Attend required training and follow ABS-QE procedures for management of clients, home-based office, equipment, and communications.
  • Follow the Global Competency Program to reach assessor status and Lead assessor status.
  • Coordinate with Client Service Representatives to contact clients, schedule visits, plan assessments, and report results.
  • Work with Aerospace Technical Manager on customer concerns and ICOT scheme requirements.
  • Perform 3rd party onsite audits for National and International customers.
  • Lead teams when needed and mentor new colleagues to meet business needs.
  • Schedule and plan audit activities with customers.
  • Interact with customers to report on implementation and maintenance of their management systems.
  • Provide timely reviews of audit results, corrective actions, and closures.
  • Participate in additional training as needed; perform other assignments as required.
  • Review quality manuals for compliance with requirements and standards.
  • Regular travel (50%+) to client sites and project locations is a core part of the role.

Auditor, Lead Job Description

The Auditor, Lead will plan, conduct, and lead audits for the ABS QE Aerospace Program. This position is remote.


What You Will Do:


  • Attend any required training and following all procedures/processes/policies within ABS-QE for management of clients, management of a home-based office, use of ABS-QE equipment, and communication both internal and external to the organization.

  • Follow the training plan developed by the Global Competency Program to reach assessor status and then Lead assessor status through the prescribed program.

  • Work with Client Service Representatives for contacting clients and scheduling the visits in collaboration with Client Service Representatives, planning the assessments, making travel plans, conducting the assessments, and reporting and managing the results.

  • Work with the Aerospace Technical Manager on all customer concerns and ICOT scheme requirements.

  • Perform 3rd party onsite audits for National and International customers.

  • Responsible for leading teams, when necessary, and mentoring and coaching new or inexperienced colleagues as needed to meet business needs.

  • Schedule and plan audit activities with customers.

  • Interact directly with customers at all levels of management by developing accurate reports regarding the implementation and maintenance of their management system.

  • Provide timely and accurate reviews of audit results, corrective actions, and closures.

  • Participate in additional training based on future business needs. Any other assignments as needed to meet assessment delivery business objectives.

  • Reviews quality manuals and associated documentation for compliance with requirements and applicable codes and/or standards.

  • While the position is remote, regular travel (50%+) to client sites and project locations is a core part of the role.


What You Will Need:

Education and Experience


  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in the Aviation, Space and Defense industry and at least one year's experience as an AEA for either AS9100, AS110, or AS9120.

  • Current Lead Auditor authentication in either AS9100, AS9120 or AS9100. Authentication in ISO 9001, 14001 or 13485 will be acceptable with experience in the Aviation, Space and Defense industry that can meet the requirements for Aerospace Authentication.

  • Minimum four (4) years of previous experience with Quality Control/Quality Assurance/Environmental related activities including auditing experience in Petroleum and/or Chemical Manufacturing industries is required.

Salary: $100,000 - $115,000


Reporting Relationships:

Reports to the Aerospace Technical Manager or another designated manager. This position does not have direct reports.
