Description of Work
The North Carolina Office of the State Auditor (OSA) is seeking a Performance Staff Auditor II to assist in performance audits conducted on state agencies, universities, colleges, licensing boards, state specific programs, and private companies that have contracts with the State of North Carolina. This position is design to contribute to the completion of audits that improve performance, strengthens accountability, and enhances transparency of state government programs.
OSA is your Fiscal Watchdog. We hold state government and entities that receive public money accountable, working on behalf of North Carolinians to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse.
As Part Of Our Team, You Will Get To
- Work collaboratively to plan and conduct audits within a range of topics
- Speak with auditees, agency management, and legislators to understand the programs being audited
- Conduct on-site fieldwork, including gathering information and interviews, determining risks that impact the auditee, and identifying processes and controls that mitigate those risks
- Review and analyze source records, programmatic data, and financial or program documentation and systems
- Document the results of your work with any potential findings and recommendations included

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with 12 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience in auditing/accounting or program evaluation; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
