Job summary

Dime Community Bank in Hauppauge, Long Island, is seeking a Staff Auditor I to support the annual internal audit plan and test financial reporting controls under SOX.

You will collaborate with the audit team and business leaders to identify risks, document controls, and propose process improvements, with a focus on banking specifics.

This is not a remote role; salary ranges from $50,000 to $55,000 commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
• Self-starter, desire to learn, able to teach others, positive attitude and flexible.
• Ability to plan, execute and evaluate audit test plans within a risk-based audit methodology.
• Broad knowledge of banking, accounting, and risks and controls a plus (retail banking experience).
• Ability to communicate effectively with management and work in a detailed, organized manner.

Responsibilities

• Plan work on assigned audits and document key business processes and controls.
• Assist in risk assessment and development/modification of the audit program.
• Prepare clear audit work papers with scope, methodology and conclusions.
• Explain audit procedures clearly in work papers and report irregularities to the in-charge auditor.
• Document exceptions to policies and internal control weaknesses.
• Assist external auditors with annual reviews as directed by management.
• Perform special projects and assignments as directed by management.
• Evaluate procedures to identify opportunities for efficiency or effectiveness improvements.
