Job summary

BFJ in Saint Paul, Minnesota, seeks a Staff Auditor who can work independently, complete work accurately and on time, and contribute to a collaborative team. You’ll support audit engagements through planning, risk assessment, testing, documentation, and delivering client deliverables while developing accounting and auditing knowledge.

Required is a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field and CPA progress; 0–3 years of public accounting experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Understanding of GAAP and GAAS with audit knowledge.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Effective communication with clients and team members.
• Experience or capability to act as in-charge on audit sections.
• Reliable with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Develop knowledge of GAAS
• Participate in audit engagement file organization and documentation
• Work with the engagement team during assessment of audit risk, planning, and design of procedures
• Understand and utilize the firm's audit methodology
• Prepare and perform substantive testing on balance sheets and income statements
• Assess internal controls and recommend improvements
• Audit simpler areas and assist with client deliverable reports
• Communicate issues to seniors, managers, and partners
• Assist in improving engagement performance
• Participate in continuing professional education
• Participate in firm-wide initiatives including recruitment
