Job summary

The South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Commission Office of General Counsel seeks a motivated attorney with 1-3 years of experience to draft Single Commissioner opinions, appellate panel opinions, and legislation. The Staff Attorney will manage appellate order triage and assist with education and outreach, reporting to the General Counsel under supervision.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and practicing attorney experience.
• SC Bar membership in good standing with active license.

Responsibilities

• Draft appellate orders and Single Commissioner opinions.
• Draft, revise, and provide guidance on orders for Commissioners and Legal Department.
• Represent the Commission in pending litigation under supervision of General Counsel.
• Provide legal guidance on SC law areas such as Workers’ Compensation Act and related procedures.
• Develop educational outreach materials and coordinate seminars.
