Swords to Plowshares in San Francisco is seeking a Staff Attorney to join our Legal Services Unit and provide legal assistance to veterans, including initial interviews, brief advice, and full-scope representation before VA, MDRBs, and Boards for Correction of Military Records. The role requires a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and active U.S.

bar membership (CA bar not required). It offers a hybrid schedule with two in-person days weekly and a comprehensive benefits package to

• Experience with unhoused clients, trauma survivors, mental health symptoms, or disabilities
• JD from ABA-accredited law school and US bar membership (CA bar not required)
• Strong written and oral communication, research and writing skills

Responsabilidades

• Provide brief legal advice and full-scope representation to veterans before VA benefits claims and boards
• Review and develop evidence from military records, medical records, transcripts, and statements
• Conduct legal research and draft briefs
• Represent clients at hearings before VA Regional Office and Board of Veterans Appeals
• Coordinate case strategies within the legal team
• Prepare legal materials and training resources on veterans law
• Attend meetings and perform administrative tasks as required
• Collaborate with other program providers to integrate services
• Performs other duties as required by leadership
