Job summary

LEGAL AID OF WEST VIRGINIA INC. seeks an attorney to serve survivors re-entering the community after release from prison.

The role focuses on direct legal services in protection orders, family law, housing, and driver's license reinstatement, among other issues within the organization's scope. You will collaborate with community partners and participate in trainings to support re-entry efforts across multiple counties.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to understanding issues of low-income constituents and addressing them.
• J.D. degree and admission to practice in West Virginia or eligibility for WV Bar.
• Ability to balance administrative duties with client advocacy responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct legal services to victims and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and dating violence who are re-entry clients.
• Assist survivors with protective and personal safety orders, family law matters, housing and public benefits, expungement, and license reinstatement.
• Collaborate with partner organizations to implement the project and conduct community-based trainings at various sites.
