Job description

The Staff Attorney Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day coordination and oversight of all Staff Attorney department personnel and document review projects. This position involves participating in orientation, assignment, and training of staff attorneys and contractors, assisting with TAR/CAL implementations and workflow monitoring, and vendor coordination on document review projects at the firm.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Ensure the success of the Staff Attorney Program according to standard metrics such as utilization, client satisfaction, and quality of work.
  2. Resolve personnel issues, including disciplinary actions and termination.
  3. Assign projects, assist with establishing best practices, and coordinate workflow.
  4. Promote the use of metrics tools to ensure quality and productivity in document review.
  5. Monitor and manage productivity and resource availability.
  6. Review and approve billable hours.
  7. Maintain administrative records, such as attendance and leave.
  8. Participate in salary reviews and evaluations, providing feedback and constructive criticism.
  9. Supervise and coordinate document review teams to meet quality and output standards.
  10. Facilitate communication between the review team and case-related staff.
  11. Work with litigation support and vendors to resolve end-user problems with review systems.
  12. Uphold confidentiality, discretion, and integrity with sensitive information.
Qualifications
  1. JD from an accredited US law school or equivalent.
  2. At least 5 years of supervisory experience in discovery/investigation document review in a major law firm or vendor.
  3. At least 2 years of discovery/document review experience.
  4. Good standing in the DC Bar.
  5. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a service-oriented approach.
  6. Knowledge of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, Relativity, and TAR/CAL workflows.
  7. Understanding of the contract attorney market and performance factors.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and extra hours as needed.
Additional Details

Status: Exempt

Reports To: Director of Staff Attorneys

Workplace: Remote (must be local to DC)

Salary Range: $134,000 - $188,500
