Lone Star Legal Aid seeks a Staff Attorney in Longview, TX to handle civil rights matters and provide legal advocacy for low-income Texans. The role requires guiding clients through investigations, lawsuits, and court appearances while drafting documents and advising on rights.

Strong writing, interviewing, and negotiation skills are essential; bilingual abilities are preferred. Responsibilities include case management, outreach, community education, and possibly supervising staff or volunteers.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited law school with eligibility to practice in Texas.
• Texas bar admission or reciprocity required/eligible.
• Prior public interest or legal services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Gather evidence, conduct civil lawsuits, and draft legal documents.
• Advise clients about their legal rights and interview clients/witnesses.
• Represent clients in court and before agencies; interpret laws and regulations.
• Engage in outreach and community education; supervise staff or volunteers as needed.
• Manage caseload, participate in evening clinics, and support community programs.
• Bilingual (Spanish & English) speaking/writing preferred.
