Job summary

Prairie State Legal Services, Inc. in Moline, IL seeks a Staff Attorney to join our team. The Staff Attorney will provide a wide range of legal services to low-income individuals, including housing, family, public benefits, and more, with focus on basic human needs.

Qualifications

• Illinois admission to the practice of law or eligibility for reciprocity.
• Experience in trial advocacy and negotiation preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and communication, research, and computer competency.
• Organizational and case management proficiency.
• Some travel required; valid driver's license or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal services to low-income individuals across housing, family, public benefits, consumer, health, education, and related areas.
• Interview applicants for legal services and assess issues with immediate impact on basic needs.
• Perform legal research, factual investigation, counseling, brief services, document preparation, dispute resolution, and client representation.
• Develop and maintain relationships with local bar associations, government bodies, and community agencies.
• Conduct outreach events and client education and intake at partner locations.
• Provide accurate information for grant reporting and document services in case records.
• Participate in internal task forces related to practice areas.
• Demonstrate high energy, organization, and commitment to PSLS mission.

Responsibilities

SalaryandBenefits

The Staff Attorney position is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week. PSLS offers a salary that is competitive with similarorganizations. Our StaffAttorney salary starts at$70,000per year for newly licensed attorneys and increases with eachyearofrelevantexperience.
