Job summary

USCRI is seeking a Staff Attorney for UAC Legal Services to support a new ORR contract, providing legal orientations, consultations, and direct representation to unaccompanied immigrant children in ORR care.

The role requires a J.D., active state bar membership, 2–3 years of immigration experience, and Spanish proficiency. In-person work with shelters and collaboration across teams will uphold the rights and safety of vulnerable youth.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school.
Active membership in good standing with a state bar.
Minimum 2-3 years of immigration legal experience.
Prior experience working with children and/or youth.
Excellent legal research, writing, and editing skills.
Experience representing individuals, preferably UAC, in removal proceedings.
Spanish proficiency.
Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

Oversee legal orientations, which are presentations concerning the rights and responsibilities of UAC in the immigration system.
Conduct legal consultations: meet with UAC and assess options related to their legal case.
Direct Representation of UAC; provide direct legal representation to UAC currently in ORR care, including various immigration proceedings.
