The Center for Family Representation (CFR) is seeking a Staff Attorney to join its interdisciplinary legal teams serving families in Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. The role focuses on keeping children out of the foster system, shortening stays in foster care, and promoting stable reunification through high-quality legal advocacy.

Requirements include admission to the New York bar (or pending admission) and experience in public benefits, housing, criminal defense, or immigration.

Qualificações

• Fluency in Spanish or other languages is preferred.
• Interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Prior experience with public benefits, housing, criminal defense or immigration is preferred.
• Admitted to practice law in New York or passed NY Bar with pending admission is required.

Responsabilidades

• Work as part of CFR’s interdisciplinary teams to provide high-quality legal defense and meet clients’ objectives.
• Represent parents in Family Court and related matters, including Article 10 and termination proceedings.
• Pursue interim appeals with CFR’s appeals team.
• Keep case notes and files up to date and participate in CFR’s policy initiatives.
• Collaborate with Home for Good teams to meet client needs.
