Job summary

RMI in the United States is seeking a Staff Attorney to join as a full-time in-house counsel reporting to the Senior Legal Director. The role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts while advising on nonprofit operations, governance, data privacy, and related compliance.

You will manage legal risk, develop policies with the finance and subgrants teams, coordinate with outside firms, and help structure entities and transactions.

Qualifications

• JD required from an accredited law school.
• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
• Experience with nonprofit governance, compliance, and contracting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex contracts and subaward agreements.
• Provide legal guidance on nonprofit operations, governance, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with finance, grants, and external counsel to manage risks and ensure legal entity structuring.
