Legal Aid of Nebraska is seeking a Staff Attorney for the Scottsbluff office to provide direct civil legal representation to eligible clients and advocate for vulnerable Nebraskans.

Responsibilities include evaluating potential cases, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in hearings, litigation, and appeals as appropriate. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in Nebraska or eligibility for admission/waiver in Nebraska.
• Experience in legal aid, public interest law, poverty law, or community-based legal services is valued.
• Bilingual or multilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct legal representation to eligible clients in civil matters.
• Evaluate potential cases and determine appropriate representation.
• Conduct legal research and factual investigations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in hearings, litigation, and appeals as appropriate.
• Counsel clients on their legal rights, options, and next steps.
• Collaborate with community partners and participate in outreach and legal education initiatives.
