Zusammenfassung

The Division of Legal Services (DLS) within the State of Missouri is seeking a Staff Attorney to support the Kansas City/Western Regional Litigation team. This role provides litigation and advisory support to DSS and its divisions, with a focus on child welfare outcomes and permanency planning.

Hybrid work options follow onboarding; attorneys may work remote portions per agency policy. A J.D. and Missouri Bar membership are required.

Qualifikationen

J.D. from an accredited institution with admission to the Missouri Bar in good standing.
Strong research and writing skills are required.
Experience in litigation with a background in juvenile, family, and administrative law is preferred but not required.

Aufgaben

Represent DSS in juvenile court, administrative hearings, and other proceedings.
Manage civil litigation related to child welfare matters, including motions and trial preparation.
Provide legal advice to DSS and its divisions on a wide range of issues.
Defend child abuse and neglect determinations in circuit court.
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with state and federal requirements.
Collaborate with DSS staff to support case strategy and permanency planning.
