Recruitment Range: $53,164 - $73,101
Position is eligible for a hybrid remote teleworking schedule, including weekly onsite work hours.
This position provides direct interpretation/transliteration services to DSDHH staff, primarily those in the central/administrative office. Responsibilities include evaluating communication access needs, supporting the Interpreter for the Director, mentoring or developing interpreter skills, and consulting on interpreter licensure. Occasional consultation may also be provided to the Department of Health and Human Services and other entities regarding Communication Access and interpreter licensure.
The division works to ensure Deaf, Hard of Hearing, or Deaf-Blind North Carolinians can communicate effectively and access information, especially regarding health and well-being.

Applicants may qualify through education, experience, or a combination, per the Education and Experience Equivalency Guide. A Bachelor's degree in an interpreter training program and two years of interpreting experience are preferred. Licensure as per GS 90D is required if applicable.
