Job summary

Procore Technologies, Inc. seeks a Staff Applied Research Scientist to lead applied ML for spatial intelligence using construction drawings, BIM, and project data. You will design and deploy scalable ML systems, collaborating with ML engineers, software engineers, and domain experts to solve complex spatial problems in real workflows.

The role is hybrid, onsite 3 days per week in San Francisco and reports to the Manager, Software Engineering within Procore's Datagrid AI Division.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or related field; 8+ years building production software with ML components.
• Strong experience designing, training, and deploying ML models using Python and modern ML frameworks.
• Solid CS fundamentals and experience with high-dimensional data such as images, documents, or structured datasets.
• Ability to lead technically through contribution, mentorship, and architectural decisions.

Responsibilities

• Act as day-to-day technical lead for applied ML projects within Frontier Models & Spatial Intelligence.
• Design, implement, and iterate ML systems that analyze 2D drawings and BIM data to detect clashes and constructability risks.
• Lead hands-on development of model training, evaluation, and inference pipelines with engineers.
• Drive POC work to reduce ambiguity and rapidly validate technical approaches.
• Ensure long-term health and maintainability of ML codebases and supporting systems.
• Set engineering quality standards through code reviews and mentoring.
• Collaborate with partner teams to integrate spatial intelligence into Procore’s platform.
