Job summary

Coinbase seeks a Staff Data Scientist for the Data Science team in the Platform group to own pricing experimentation and strategy for consumer and business products. You'll work with Product, Engineering, and Design to turn analytics into decisions that impact the bottom line.

You'll design pricing tests, build models, and develop data pipelines, communicating findings to executives and cross-functional leaders. This is a remote-first, but not remote-only role with quarterly in-person surges.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of data science experience focused on pricing experimentation and causal inference.
• 5+ years leading pricing or experimentation workstreams, including designing A/B tests and building predictive models.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python or R for modeling, pipeline development, and data analysis.
• Ability to independently scope and deliver complex analytical projects spanning multiple teams.
• Responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs.

As a Staff Data Scientist on the Data Science team within the Platform group, you’ll own pricing experimentation and strategy for Coinbase’s Consumer & Business products. This team partners directly with Product, Engineering, and Design to turn deep analytical expertise into decisions that move the company’s bottom line. You’ll design and analyze pricing tests, build models that identify optimal strategies, and communicate findings to executives and cross-functional leaders.

What you’ll do:

• Own end-to-end pricing experimentation, from test design through analysis and recommendation

Required Skills and Experience:

• 8 years of experience in data science with a focus on pricing experimentation, causal inference, and statistical modeling (PhD preferred, or Master’s in Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field)
• 5 years directly leading pricing or experimentation workstreams, including designing A/B tests and building predictive models
• Proven proficiency in SQL and Python or R for statistical modeling, pipeline development, and data analysis
• Track record of independently scoping and delivering complex analytical projects spanning multiple teams, from problem definition through executive presentation
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Pay Transparency Notice: Base salary varies by location (see range below). Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility, and benefits (medical, dental, vision, 401(k)).

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):: $207,485 USD – $244,100 USD
