Job summary

Google is seeking a Staff Research Engineer, Applied AI to lead development and deployment of novel AI-powered applications. You will rapidly develop new features and work across partner teams to deliver end-to-end solutions, translating AI research into real-world products for broad adoption.

You will drive the curation of specialized datasets, design evaluations, and push advanced models from prototype to production in collaboration with DeepMind and other organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of software development experience, including system design, data structures, and algorithms.
• 5 years of experience building, training, and deploying machine learning models into production environments.

Responsibilities

• Partner with external parties and internal teams to define product objectives and technical designs.
• Curate specialized datasets, design evaluations, and perform model fine-tuning for real-world performance.
• Lead engineering and development of novel solutions from 0 to 1 using internal platforms and tools.
• Share real-world evaluations and deployment signals with core research teams to inform future models.
• Set best practices for generative AI deployment and demonstrate capabilities of frontier models.
