Job summary

Google seeks a Staff Applied AI Agent Developer to lead development of advanced AI agents for strategic customers. You will build, deploy, and optimize AI agents on Google's platform, bridging core product teams and customer needs.

This role emphasizes high impact work, direct customer engagement, and shaping future AI products. Expect to work with Gemini Enterprise and Vertex AI services, delivering scalable, production-ready solutions with speed and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: speech/audio, reinforcement learning, ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
  • Experience with core GenAI concepts (LLM, multi-modal, large vision models) and experience with text, image, video, or audio generation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with select, strategic customers to understand business challenges and design, co-develop, debug, and deploy custom conversational AI agents and solutions.
  • Act as a high-level problem solver, writing bespoke code and contributing to core product codebase.
  • Systematize learnings by creating reusable tools, accelerators, and best practices across the organization.
  • Provide critical feedback to Product and Development teams by synthesizing field insights.
  • Offer technical guidance on agent improvement, performance tuning, and production readiness.

  • Experience in prompt development, model evaluation, and the creative application of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Ability to be flexible and resilient in dynamic environments where priorities often shift and to take ownership and respond to urgent business or customer issues.

  • Partner directly with select, strategic customers to understand their business challenges. Design, co-develop, debug, and deploy custom conversational AI agents and solutions to accelerate their time to value.
  • Act as a high-level problem solver, empowered to write bespoke code, develop custom tooling, and even contribute directly to the core product codebase to resolve critical customer issues.
  • Systematize your learnings from customer engagements by creating reusable tools, building documentation and accelerators, and establishing best practices that can be used across the organization.
  • Serve as a critical feedback loop to our core Product and Development teams. Synthesize insights from the field to influence product strategy, identify feature gaps.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and best practices to customers on agent improvement, performance tuning, CI/CD pipelines, and production readiness.
