Job summary

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Staff Applications Engineer in Chelmsford, MA to serve as the primary technical interface for customers and to collaborate across cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates bring 8+ years in RF design/test or as a sales engineer with strong communication skills and a Bachelor’s in RF-focused engineering. The role entails hands-on support for RF/microwave products and close interaction with defense and aerospace applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with emphasis on RF.
• 8+ years of experience in RF design/test or as a sales engineer in RF space.
• Experience with RF components and power amplifiers, LNA, phase shifters, switches and filters.
• Excellent business communication skills, written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Provide the primary technical interface with customers via phone, email, chat, and visits.
• Respond to technical inquiries in a professional manner.
• Resolve design issues by recommending product changes to customers.
• Exercise good business judgment to determine additional support or escalation as needed.
• Provide test support for customer-requested testing.
• Collaborate with Sales, Product Management, Purchasing, Production, Distribution, and Marketing.

Skyworks Defense & Aerospace (D&A) business unit, develops advanced phased array antenna solutions that enable our customers to accomplish critical missions. As a member of our team, you will collaborate with world-class antenna designers, RF engineers, and test professionals to create state-of-the‑art products for Satellite Communications, Line‑of‑Sight Communications, Radar, and other defense and aerospace applications.

Responsibilities

• Provide the primary technical interface with a variety of customers, via phone, email, live web chat, and occasional face‑to‑face customer visits
• Respond to all technical inquiries in a professional and positive manner
• Resolve design issues by making product recommendations as required by customers
• Exercise excellent business judgment to determine additional support as needed or escalation as required
• Provide test support as needed for customer requested special testing
• Work as a collaborative and professional team member in cross‑functional situations with Sales, Product Management, Purchasing, Production, Distribution channel and Marketing

Required Experience and Skills

• Must have experience in RF components and able to quickly come up to speed on technical aspects of these products
• Applications Engineer with working knowledge of RF/Microwave semiconductors for power amplifiers, LNA, phase shifters, switches, and filters.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, to working on solutions for issues in customer designs
• Experience in a customer facing role in a sales or support environment required
• Excellent business communication skills, written and spoken English, and solid presentation skills
• Positive, supportive attitude in a mutually‑respectful environment required at all times
• Must possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with an emphasis in RF, plus 8 or more years of experience in design and/or test or as a sales engineer in the RF space

Desired Experience and Skills

• Experience and knowledge in software development (Python preferred but not required)

Salary and Benefits

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD$108,700 -$226,800 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S.
