Job summary

Renesas Electronics seeks an experienced Staff Application Engineer to drive memory system validation and USB protocol optimization. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, reliable systems and deliver bench-driven data for product development.

The role emphasizes system-level analysis, tool development for data collection, and customer-facing technical support, with strong emphasis on DDR5 memory technologies and power management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field).
• 7+ years of experience in power management, USB protocol compliance testing, memory system design (3+ years on DDR5 or similar high-speed memory).
• Hands-on bench validation of analog, digital, and power management devices.
• Strong knowledge of USB physical layer measurements and electrical compliance testing (high-speed tests, jitter, eye diagram, EOP width, mask testing, ringing).
• Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal circuits (amplifiers, temperature sensors, ADC, DAC, voltage regulators).
• Automation experience using LabVIEW, Python or similar programming languages.
• Experience with customer support for technical design and resolving issues.
• Experience with developing customer reports, Application notes, datasheets and other technical collateral.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Product Validation: Validation of new products within memory modules and controllers with bench measurements and full functionality checks.
• System-level Analysis: Analyze memory modules to identify performance and power efficiency improvements.
• Tool Development: Create and maintain bench automation software and simulation tools for system-level analysis.
• Customer Support: Provide technical support during product development and integration with customers.
• Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams: Work with design, product, test, packaging and other teams to ensure requirements are met.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare specifications, datasheets, power analysis reports and test plans.
