Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Android Software Engineer to advance in-vehicle experiences on Android Automotive OS and hybrid Android/RTOS platforms. You will design, develop, and test infotainment and digital displays across instrument clusters, center stack, and HUD, focusing on performance and reliability.

• 8+ years of production-grade software development, incl. Android system/app development.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, EE, or related field.
• Strong Java or Kotlin proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test Android system and application-level software for infotainment and displays.
• Lead integration of Android applications with Android Automotive OS on embedded platforms and multi-display architectures.
• Build reusable Android frameworks and services using AOSP, Jetpack, and HIDL/AIDL interfaces.
• Collaborate with hardware, product, and design teams to deliver responsive in-vehicle experiences.
• Optimize system performance, startup time, and resource usage for automotive reliability.
• Drive Android-RTOS coexistence strategies for seamless handoff between systems.
• Apply Agile/Scrum with CI/CD for robust, testable code and frequent feature delivery.
