Job summary

Rivian is seeking an experienced Restraints Engineer to shape airbag systems from concept to high-volume production. You will drive design, packaging, and integration of frontal and side curtain airbags, collaborating with Studio and Interior teams to ensure safe, elegant deployments.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge in design, packaging, release, and testing of automotive airbag systems.
• 10+ years of restraints engineering experience (frontal, side curtain).
• Lifecycle mastery from concept to service.
• Expertise with CAD platforms (CATIA, NX) and PLM systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end design, packaging, and execution of airbag modules for Rivian vehicles.
• Direct CATIA V6-based packaging to optimize interior integration and deployment paths.
• Coordinate with Studio Designers and interior teams for harmonious packaging.
• Align cross-functional teams to meet crash performance, mass, timing, and cost targets.
• Author and manage engineering Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Lead DFMEA for airbag modules and deployment systems.
• Develop and execute Product Validation plans and sign off results.
