Job summary

Fanatics is seeking a Staff-level AI/ML Platform architect to own the end-to-end AI control plane, including gateway, registry, retrieval, evaluation, and cost management. You will shape architecture, set standards, and partner with data scientists to deploy scalable, governable production AI solutions.

This role emphasizes hands-on leadership and architectural influence across teams. You will design multi-provider routing for enterprise LLMs, build a governed tool registry, and ensure retriever

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years building production software, including 2+ years on AI/ML platform.
• Staff-level impact: system design across multiple services and teams.
• Strong Python and FastAPI, plus one of Java/Go/Scala/TS.
• Familiar with Terraform, Kubernetes, Airflow, Postgres, Grafana, and Prometheus.
• Experience with AWS data science toolkit and PyTorch.
• Experience with LLMs, MPI, or agentic AI is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end architecture of the AI control plane: gateway, agent runtime, registry, retrieval, evaluation, and cost.
• Build the enterprise LLM gateway with multi-provider routing, caching, and key management.
• Own the data platform behind retrieval: ingestion, embedding, indexing pipelines, and vector backends.
• Lead governance and cost controls (RBAC, audit logs, cost attribution).
• Set engineering standards and mentor engineers; communicate trade-offs to leadership.
