Job summary

Uber Technologies Inc. is seeking a Staff Software Engineer for AI Infra - Training to design and build end-to-end systems for Uber’s ML training stack, tackling scaling on massive datasets and models across global data centers and clouds.

You will mentor engineers, set architectural direction, and collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Operations to deliver high-performance, secure foundations that enable Uber’s scale and impact.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building scalable, fault-tolerant platforms.
• Experience leading large engineering projects end-to-end.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Math, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end systems for Uber’s ML training stack.
• Mentor engineers and review code and designs.
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Operations globally.
• Diagnose performance regressions and optimize resources.
• Create tools and frameworks to accelerate internal teams.
• Lead architectural discussions and balance buy vs. build decisions.
