Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Engineer Subsystems Aeronautical Design for multiple locations in CA and OK. The role leads hydraulic and electrical subsystem development from concept to sustainment, coordinating with suppliers and internal teams to ensure technical excellence.

Responsibilities include architecture definition, system testing, and presenting to senior leadership. A strong background in aerospace design, project management, and airworthiness is required.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in aerospace structural design or 10+ years with an MS in STEM or 8+ years with a PhD.
• Proven experience leading a system’s development from concept to sustainment.
• Demonstrated project-management capabilities.
• Experience as SME for a team of 10+ engineers.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; capable of briefings to executives.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of hydraulic and electrical schematics for vehicle subsystems.
• Guide system architecture, requirements, testing, and verification across projects.
• Collaborate with suppliers during hardware development and procurement.
• Lead trade studies, layout development, and system testing for components.
• Present technical results to senior leadership and ensure airworthiness.
