Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA is seeking a Staff Aeronautical Engineer to join our team. The role emphasizes propulsion subsystem SME responsibilities and integration within an IPT.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in STEM with 12+ years of engineering experience or Master’s with 10 years or PhD with 8 years.
Experience with development, design, or sustainment of Fuel or Environmental Control Systems.
Experience applying Siemens AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar analysis tools.

Responsibilities

Act as SME for a propulsion subsystem, owning technical integrity, performance, and readiness.
Define, prioritize, and champion subsystem improvement initiatives and track closure to implementation.
Serve as engineering rep on supplier management team for subsystem components, including design changes and corrective actions.
Perform analyses (performance, thermal, structural, life, tolerance, failure modes) to inform design decisions.
Define, document, and coordinate engineering changes to the subsystem and ensure traceability.
Lead or support verification, validation, test planning, and certification activities for the subsystem.
Manage subsystem technical risks and safety-of-flight issues and coordinate with stakeholders.
Ensure subsystem configuration control and milestone compliance with schedule, cost, and deliverables.
Provide timely technical responses to user, customer, and program leadership.
