Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Sr Principal Engineer Aeronautical - Hydraulics Responsible Engineer to join our team in Palmdale, CA.

Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required for start: Yes, Clearance type: Top Secret. Travel: Yes, up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the hydraulics subsystem.
  • Lead a small team that defines and champions system improvement initiatives as they become necessary.
  • Serve as an engineering representative in the supplier management team for all suppliers providing components of the subsystem.
  • Perform system analysis as needed to serve specialty engineering needs.
  • Define and document changes and revisions to the subsystem.
  • Provide direct response to subsystem needs as they arise from the user, the customer, and/or program leadership.
  • Present effective technical briefs on all of the above for all levels of consumption (i.e., user, customer, program leadership, etc.).
Requirements
  • Staff Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; or Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; or PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience working with diverse technical teams and leading others.
  • Experience working with aeronautic hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of design, analysis, and/or engineering tools development.
  • Proficient with typical office toolsets such as Windows OS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient at locating and examining technical data from Computer Aided Design.
  • Experience using CATIA V5 to examine 3D models.
  • Experience using TeamCenter Engineer and Enterprise to locate and examine technical data.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain subsequent SAP PARs following commencement of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs.
  • Experience with hydraulic system design and analysis.
  • Experience applying Siemens AMESIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar analysis tools to hydraulic subsystems.
Compensation

Primary level salary range: $177,000.00 - $265,600.00.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, annual bonuses, and long-term incentives (for VP or Director positions). Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
