Position Overview: Our company seeks an experienced insurance accounting professional with working knowledge of various agency management system (AMS) software, to join our team as a Staff Accountant in the Property and Casualty (P&C) business operations. In this position you will be responsible for supporting many areas of the accounting functions that services our multiple P&C insurance agencies. You will be organized, detail-oriented, show demonstrated success in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, and also be comfortable learning new skills and capable of shifting to a new way of thinking and doing where expected.

Work Location Arrangements: This position is a full time, fully remote position. We have a strong preference for qualified candidates in the U.S. Eastern or Central time zones.

Primary Responsibilities

• Complete the Direct Bill and Agency Bill reconciliations, including the Direct Bill statement postings to client accounts
• Handle Direct Bill downloading from carrier websites where applicable
• Review and process Insurance producer commission statements and outside broker commission statements
• Complete monthly bank account reconciliations to ensure direct bill commissions received have been posted to the general ledger
• Manage electronic deposits for operating and escrow accounts
• Handle all facets of multiple property and casualty agency accounting functions on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Monitor and review accounts receivable activities and take action on past due balances
• Refund clients for return premiums and overpayments
• Record and confirm journal entry activities provided from company Agency Growth Team (AGT)
• Pay all operating expenses as well as all carrier, broker, and vendor invoices
• Prepare and generate monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement
• Analyze and comment on monthly revenue and expense fluctuations as directed by supervisor
• Various other ad hoc responsibilities as assigned
  
  

Qualifications And Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in accounting
• 1-3 years of relevant accounting work experience in a property and casualty (P&C) insurance brokerage environment
• Working knowledge of Applied EPIC and HawkSoft insurance agency management system (AMS) is preferred
• Prior working experience with Business Central accounting software is preferred
• Proficiency in usage of Microsoft Office Suite tools
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to travel to various partner agencies locations as needed (expectation here is minimal)

Salary Range: A starting base salary in the $55,000 - $70,000 range, depending on the candidate’s experience. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive compensation that is earned based on performance.

• A wide salary range is posted for this position, and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
